12 hectares of space for industry and commerce along the A63: New industrial area near Lohnsfeld about to be developed

The joint analysis of commercial space potential in the Donnersbergkreis and Kusel districts is bearing fruit: on Friday, February 14, 2025, the company Immo 150, the municipality of Winnweiler, VG-Werke Winnweiler and the local municipality of Lohnsfeld signed the development agreement for an industrial area between Lohnsfeld and Winnweiler. The Lorenhek industrial estate is one of the areas identified on the initiative of the districts of Donnersbergkreis and Kusel as part of a potential analysis for industrial sites in the Western Palatinate. Industry and commerce of regional or supra-regional importance can now be established on an initial 12 hectares.

The company Immo 150 (Kaiserslautern) has developed the Lorenhek industrial estate on the basis of the potential analysis in the municipality of Winnweiler, local community of Lohnsfeld. The development plan is legally binding and development work will begin soon. Rudolf Jacob, Mayor of the VG and the local municipality of Winnweiler, and District Administrator Rainer Guth praised the good cooperation at all levels at the signing of the contract. The local community of Lohnsfeld and the local community of Winnweiler, where another neighboring industrial area will soon be built, have cooperated in an exemplary manner. The municipality and the Donnersberg district have also pulled together, the company Immo 150 is a good and reliable partner, and the West Palatinate Planning Association, the ZukunftsRegion Westpfalz and the Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektion (SGD) Süd have done their bit to get the industrial estate up and running in a relatively short space of time.

Mayor Rudolf Jacob emphasizes: "It is also important that no tax money has flowed into the project through the cooperation with Immo 150 and will not flow in the future. There is therefore no economic risk for the local authorities because Immo 150 bears all the costs for planning and development and is also responsible for marketing."

During the signing of the contract, District Administrator Rainer Guth emphasized that the Donnersberg district and the district of Kusel have positioned themselves for the future in terms of industrial estates in recent years. The Lorenhek industrial estate is now the first visible result - others will follow. Rainer Guth: "We have a lot to offer here in the Northern and Western Palatinate: a central location in Europe, good transport links in many areas, a qualified workforce, reasonable land prices and an area that is a pleasure to live in. In the past, we were too compartmentalized when marketing our potential locations for industry and commerce. We have changed this since 2020, with success. It shows once again that when we work together, we make progress. We will develop further areas in the district in the near future, for more work, more added value and for the people in our region."
