Brewery site changes hands

The negotiations between the new owners of the former brewery site, Immo 150 GmbH, Kaiserslautern and Schultz GmbH, Imsbach, as well as the lien holders of the insolvent brewery, which lasted over a year, came to a successful conclusion with the handover of the keys last Thursday. Mayor Rudolf Jacob expressed his delight that the former brewery property could now move forward. This is a good day for the municipality and association of Winnweiler. The many years of vacancy, some of which had already led to vandalism and decay, had now come to an end.

Yvonne Grüner, representing the insolvency administrator, handed over the symbolic key to Dr. Thomas Knieriemen and Timo Schultz. Schultz GmbH from Imsbach has acquired the lower part of the site on which the former empties hall is located. The upper part with the former administration building and the production facilities was purchased by Immo 150 GmbH. Timo Schultz announced that the company intends to start clearing and cleaning the site in the near future. Subsequently, a commercial use for storage purposes is planned.

Dr. Knieriemen explained that the renovation and modernization of the administration building would begin soon. There are several parties interested in renting out the space commercially. He also took up the mayor's idea of preserving the brewery if possible. Not only the preservation of the Braustübchen, but also the naming of the area as the "BischoffQuartier" and the proposal to the local council to name the new public street after the brewery founder Christian Bischoff should keep the memory of over 150 years of brewing tradition in Winnweiler alive.

Demolition work on the former production and storage buildings in the upper area should begin soon, if possible in May. The development plan procedure will also be initiated shortly. The utilization concept has already been discussed and agreed with the local community of Winnweiler. The development of various types of housing is planned for the areas created by the demolition of the old buildings. From detached and semi-detached houses along the street "An den Hopfengärten" to an area of serviced apartments and multi-storey apartment buildings, a wide range of new housing options will be created here. In total, 130 new residential units will be created over the next few years, centrally located in Winnweiler.
