To the map overview

A new 4.5-kilometre cycle path leads through a beautiful valley at the foot of the Donnersberg from Imsbach via Hahnweilerhof to Steinbach. The cycle path will be officially inaugurated on Sunday, May 25 - with an "Adventure Cycling on the Donnersberg". There are numerous offers along the 4.5-kilometer route.

"The cycle path is a great example of what can be achieved when the forestry office, local communities and the municipality pull together," say Dirk Schneider, Torsten Windecker and Oliver Krupp, the local mayors of Steinbach, Börrstadt and Imsbach. And Rudolf Jacob, the mayor of Winnweiler municipality, adds: "This cycle path is not only an important gap closure within the municipality's cycle path network, but in future it should also be possible to cycle on cycle paths from Kaiserslautern, through the municipality of Winnweiler via the Zellertal valley to Worms - a route of supra-regional importance."

Lots to see and experience in just under five kilometers

Above all, a route that has a lot to offer in less than five kilometers. For example, the Celtic village in Steinbach offers insights into the mystical world of the early Donnersberg inhabitants. Past a pond and along the foot of the highest mountain in the Palatinate, not far from the route near the Hahnweilerhof, there is a former hermitage carved into the rock. The route continues along the source of the Imsbach stream into the Langental valley. This is where the Imsbach Mining Adventure World is located. In an old visitor mine, you can go on a journey through centuries of geological history. If you are looking to cool off your feet, you will find them in the Kneipp pool not far from the Langental pond.

Of course, all of this will also be on display on Sunday, May 25, when the new cycle path is officially inaugurated with an "Adventure Cycling on the Donnersberg". There are numerous offers along the route. This event is also organized by the local communities of Steinbach, Börrstadt and Imsbach together with the municipality of Winnweiler.
