First state-wide warning day in Rhineland-Palatinate

On March 13, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate is holding a so-called warning day for the first time from 10:00 to 10:45.

This is intended to complement the nationwide warning day and test the warning tool mix of warning apps, cell broadcasts, sirens and other warning options at state level. In particular, however, the aim is also to raise awareness of the issue among the population and familiarize them with the warning options.

The municipality of Winnweiler will take part in the warning day. In addition to the centralized warning means triggered by the state, such as warning apps and cell broadcast, the converted sirens in the municipality of Winnweiler will therefore be triggered at 10:00 a.m. with the signal to warn the population. The all-clear will be given at 10:45 am.

There are currently no sirens in the following locations that can emit the reintroduced tones and are therefore not activated:
- Sippersfeld
- Schweisweiler
- Breunigweiler
- Höringen

In a real situation, the warning would be issued there via loudspeaker vehicles.

As part of the rebuilding of the siren warning network with new sirens, which can also transmit voice announcements, for example, locations are also planned in these towns in future. The project planning has already been carried out by VG Winnweiler. The future network will be much denser and will also cover smaller settlements and all districts. Sirens are indispensable in the warning system mix, particularly due to the wake-up effect and the rapid, comprehensive warning. However, the assumption of costs by the state and the federal government is still unclear, as the network plays a key role in civil protection (protection of the population in the event of defense) in addition to disaster control.

It is important to familiarize yourself with the siren signals that will also be used in the future for real threats and damage situations.
