Funding decision for 2.137 million euros handed over

Mayor Rudolf Jacob recently received the funding notification from the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of the Interior, Michael Ebling, from the "RZN" program. "RZN" stands for "regional - future - sustainable". The aim of the program is to support the promotion of equal living conditions and the reduction of structural deficits in rural areas. The municipality of Winnweiler will receive a sum of 2.137 million euros for this purpose, which has already been credited to the municipality's account. The administration had submitted a list of 35 measures in all 13 local communities for funding, confirmed by the local mayors and the local council. The state approved this list of measures without any changes. With 13 of the 35 measures, the conversion of street and building lighting to energy-saving LED lamps plays a major role in this program. A total amount of € 331,000 has been budgeted for this. "As a result, all local communities will save considerable operating costs for the buildings and street lamps converted to LED lighting with these funds," says Mayor Rudolf Jacob.

The largest single item is an amount of € 503,000 for the purchase of the former Netto supermarket in Winnweiler for the purposes of fire protection, general assistance, civil protection and disaster control as well as rescue services.

Mayor Jacob thanked the deputy head of the finance department, Ina Kirschbaum, who had taken on the preparatory work for the funding application on her own initiative - outside of her actual duties - within the administration.

Mayor Jacob thanked the Minister of the Interior for the funding, but could not spare Michael Ebling the remark that there would be no need for such funding programs if the municipalities in the state had adequate financial resources on an ongoing basis.

The funding decision was handed over together with the municipality of Ramstein-Miesenbach in its town hall, where the local mayor Ralf Hechler had invited guests.
