A slightly different track record - 100 × 100 meters of forest
The forest is good for us. It lets us come to rest. Here we can relax wonderfully and do something for our health. At the same time, it is a habitat and refuge for many animal and plant species. Thousands of deciduous and coniferous trees protect the climate, water and soil and provide us with the most important renewable raw material for everyday life - our natural product wood.
The Donnersberg Forestry Office is responsible for 20,500 hectares of forest, which is characterized by structurally rich mixed deciduous forests. There are many biotopes in the forest that are important for nature conservation. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the most densely forested federal state, work has been going on for generations to preserve the forest and use it sustainably.
It is particularly important to reconcile the different, sometimes competing demands of business, nature and recreation in the best possible way. This is illustrated by the new information boards that have already been erected at Hohlsteinhütte and in the immediate vicinity of Igelborner Hütte and Retzberghütte.
