Start of construction work: New cycle path between Steinbach and Hahnweilerhof
The municipality of Winnweiler is receiving around 1.5 million euros in funding for the expansion of the cycle path network. The funds come from the "Urban and Rural" funding program of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), which allows for ninety percent funding. The paths in the municipality of Winnweiler are important main connecting routes between the Alsenztal and Zellertal cycle paths and also link the local communities concerned.
Construction work has already begun: A new cycle path is currently being built between Steinbach and Hahnweilerhof. The work is scheduled to be completed before Christmas, depending on the weather. The planned extension route is 1.5 kilometers long, from the end of Steinbach to the start of the concrete path in the Börrstadt district. The path will be surfaced with asphalt so that it can be used in the colder and wetter months.
The next construction phases are also already planned: Between Imsbach (Langenthal from the white pit) to the Börrstadt district boundary (Hahnweilerhof), work will take place from mid to late January 2025 (depending on the weather). The last of a total of seven construction sections from Börrstadt, from the Imsbach district boundary to Hahnweiler and from Hahnweilerhof to around the Steinbach district boundary, is scheduled for completion by March 2025 and will complete the approximately 4.5-kilometre-long link from Imsbach to Steinbach.
Mayor Rudolf Jacob expresses his thanks for the good cooperation with all the local communities involved as well as the funding bodies of the State Mobility Agency and the Donnersberg district administration.
