"Learn to swim and have fun" is the motto of the summer holiday swimming courses at the Winnweiler outdoor pool. 24 children from the age of six and children who will be starting school after the summer vacations learn to swim in a playful and sensitive way. In small groups, various aids are used to make the water fun and promote a feeling of safety in the water. "Even when the weather isn't so good, the little swimmers are eager to take part," says pool manager Dominik Reis. In cooperation with the Donnersberg district youth welfare office, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate specifically promotes swimming courses as part of vacation childcare measures. "With the grant of €1,358.00, we were able to purchase additional course materials and adapt our concept," adds Mayor Rudolf Jacob. The proud conclusion of the courses is the swimming badges that the children receive.
