Handover of donations from the "Swim&Run" charity event

Almost 200 participants and €1,730 in donations for the Donnersbergkreis women's shelter

On August 31, the popular Swim & Run took place once again at the outdoor pool in Winnweiler - a sporting highlight of the municipality of Winnweiler that combines swimming and running into a varied aquathlon. In perfect weather, almost 200 enthusiastic athletes took part in the various distances this year - from the short distance to the long distance, there was something for every age and ability group.

As usual, the event was actively supported by numerous volunteers, the Turnverein Winnweiler 1876 e.V., the DLRG local group Winnweiler, the German Red Cross and the fire department, who ensured that everything ran smoothly and safely.

The municipality was also able to count on the support of local partners: VPV Generalagentur Schleppe provided catering for the athletes, while Horst Ultes and Laufladen Kaiserslautern supplemented the event with their contributions and donations in kind.

Thanks to the entry fees and additional donations, an impressive total of 1,730 euros was raised this year. The money will go to the Donnersbergkreis women's shelter and the "Frauen helfen Frauen Donnersbergkreis e.V." association, which is committed to protecting and supporting women in emergency situations.

"I am thrilled by the great participation and the willingness of our community to help," says Mayor Jacob. "We would like to use the donations to support the valuable work of the women's shelter."

At the end, Mayor Jacob and co-organizers Steffen Brack and Monika Hellriegel presented the symbolic donation cheque to representatives of the Frauen helfen Frauen Donnersbergkreis e.V. association.

"A big thank you to all participants, helpers and our supporters - without them, this fantastic event would not have been possible," said Jacob. "We are already looking forward to the next Swim & Run at the outdoor pool in Winnweiler."
