Charity event on August 31
For the fourth time, the municipality of Winnweiler is organizing the Swim&Run Winnweiler everyman sporting event on 31 August 2025, with significant support from the two clubs Turnverein Winnweiler 1876 e.V. and Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e.V. (DLRG), Winnweiler local group. A Swim&Run, also known as an aquathlon, is a competition format in which the two sports of swimming and running are combined with uninterrupted timekeeping.
New 2025:
The previous team start over the 1,100m short distance is now intended for our younger participants to start together with mom, dad, aunt, uncle, boyfriend or girlfriend. For the older ones who want to give it their all again as a team at the end of the day, there is the NEW category "What else is possible?". Mandatory: Full throttle on the short course! Find a partner in advance or spontaneously on the day of the event with whom you want to go "all-in" again over 1,100m. But please don't be overly ambitious. Only register for this if you are still fit enough!
In Winnweiler, the competition starts at 10:00 a.m. with the swimming. The swimmers start one after the other at one-minute intervals in the 50-meter pool, changing lanes every 100 meters. On the long course, a total of 500 meters must be swum, after which the running shoes are put on in the transition area and any sports clothing changed. Then it's straight on to the run. A total of 5 kilometers must be completed on the flat turning point course towards Leithöfe. On the short course, which starts at 14:00, participants have to swim 100 meters and run approx. 1 kilometer. The finish line for both distances is at the swimming pool.
It is also possible to start as a team: The procedure is basically the same as the individual start, except that the swimmer hands over to the runner by high-fiving.
In previous years, two sections of 2,500 m each were run out and back for the 5,000 m run. This year, we are again reducing the distance to 1,250 m and running twice there and back. This should "bring more life to the course", as participants will meet each other.
The proceeds will be donated to a charitable cause to be announced.

Please register in advance. Spectators are very welcome! All guests can use the swimming pool without restriction after the event until 7 pm.
