Greetings at Christmas and the turn of the year

Ladies and gentlemen,
dear fellow citizens,

The year 2025 is drawing to a close. Christmas and the turn of the year are just around the corner. This time of year is traditionally a time to look back and take stock, but also a time to look forward to what lies ahead.

The summary at the end of the year will naturally be different. Depending on whether you focus on your own area of life or on the big picture. Regardless of which area of life you look at, you can still have hope and optimism that things will get better.

We can all draw a positive balance for 2025 in our municipal sector. Once again, we have been able to initiate and complete a number of projects. For example, after three years of construction, the major construction project to extend and completely renovate Sippersfeld elementary school was completed shortly before the end of the year. The new fire station in Steinbach has also been completed. The furnishings will follow in the new year so that we can then put it into operation. The construction of the fire stations in Breunigweiler and Börrstadt is on schedule so that we will be able to report completion in the first half of 2026. The road construction measures in Donnersbergstraße in Winnweiler and Raiffeisenstraße in Alsenbrück-Langmeil have been completed. The measure in the Schlosstraße/Schulstraße/Bahnhofstraße area in Winnweiler is nearing completion. The municipal heating planning project has been completed and the final resolution is scheduled to be passed by the municipal council in January. The fiber optic expansion has made further progress and will also be completed in the first half of 2026. The same applies to the complete renovation of the group sewage treatment plant in Winnweiler. The local and association municipality has made a significant contribution to ensuring that there is a viable, future-proof concept for the subsequent use of the former brewery site. The purchase contracts were signed before Christmas.

In 2026, we will be able to tackle a number of measures at both the association municipality and the local municipalities, in particular thanks to the federal and state funding we have received. For example, I would like to mention the final conversion of street lighting to LED technology in all local municipalities, the construction of a learning room in the Wald-Kita, the construction of new bridges in Breunigweiler, Sippersfeld, Steinbach and Winnweiler, the acquisition of the former Netto building in Winnweiler to implement a fire and disaster control center with an integrated rescue station and the construction measures at the daycare centers in Imsbach, Sippersfeld, Börrstadt and Wartenberg-Rohrbach.

This positive balance of our municipal activities is only possible because we work together well and in a spirit of trust between the local municipalities, the association of municipalities and the district, because everyone on the committees acts in an objective and constructive manner and things are not paralyzed by ideology, party politics or personal interests.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our fellow citizens for their commitment and dedication to our local community over the past year. This has taken place in a wide variety of different areas. It starts with neighbourly help, continues with involvement in clubs, aid organizations and churches and extends to activities in our fire departments and committees.

On behalf of the administration and the local mayors, I wish you a peaceful and reflective Christmas and all the best for 2026.

Yours,
Rudolf Jacob
Mayor
