Service and safety for cyclists
The infrastructure for cyclists is being further expanded: Two new bike service stations were officially opened in Lohnsfeld and Sippersfeld in April thanks to the support of ADAC Pfalz. The modern repair stations offer cyclists practical help with minor breakdowns on busy routes - another step towards a bicycle-friendly region.
In Lohnsfeld, the station was installed on the village square by the volunteer fire department - initiated by residents' suggestions and implemented with the support of the local council. The offer is supplemented by an e-bike charging box, which was made possible by donations and volunteer work from the local community.
Just two days later, the second station was inaugurated in Sippersfeld on the grounds of the "Waldglück" nature resort. At this location, the resort and MTB Donnersberger Land e.V. are responsible for managing the station. Sports cyclists, guests of the campsite and visitors to the nearby "Langer Stein" trail benefit in particular from the new facilities.
"We are delighted that we have been able to open two service points for cyclists in our municipality together with ADAC Pfalz," emphasizes Mayor Rudolf Jacob. "This is a real benefit for local mobility and for tourism in our region."
The 1.5 meter high stations contain a foot pump with pressure gauge, tire levers and various tools for minor repairs - not only for bicycles, but also for baby carriages, wheelchairs and skateboards. Use is free of charge and open to everyone.
At both meetings, District Administrator Rainer Guth praised the excellent cooperation between the ADAC, the local authority, associations and local stakeholders: "These projects show how quickly a project can be implemented when everyone pulls together."
With the two new stations, the municipality of Winnweiler is consistently continuing its measures to strengthen cycling.
