Mayor Rudolf Jacob had invited the members of the municipal council to a meeting at City Hall on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
First, the municipal council unanimously decided to establish a preparatory group (Bambini Fire Department) within the Sippersfeld Volunteer Fire Department. The Sippersfeld Fire Department’s leadership had submitted a request to this effect. Mayor Rudolf Jacob reported that an information evening had since been held, during which 40 children expressed interest. There are already 28 confirmed registrations. This preparatory group is intended to be open not only to children from the local community of Sippersfeld but also to those from neighboring communities within the Winnweiler Municipal Association. Supervision and the implementation of age-appropriate activities will be provided by appropriately qualified members of the Sippersfeld Volunteer Fire Department and its local support association.
This was followed by a discussion and vote on the construction of new fire stations in the municipalities of Hörringen and Lohnsfeld. The mayor explained that a decision in principle had already been made to build a new fire station in the municipality of Hörringen as part of the redevelopment of the village center there. This station is to be built in a similar style to the stations in Breunigweiler and Börrstadt. Meanwhile, the Lohnsfeld Fire Department has also submitted a corresponding request. The Lohnsfeld Fire Department is currently housed in a concrete garage with no additional auxiliary rooms. Although the fire department has access to suitable premises owned by the local municipality, these facilities are also outdated. Both local municipalities have offered to provide the association of municipalities with a suitable building site free of charge. The cost per building is estimated at approximately €1,200,000.00. The project is to be financed 100% through an allocation from the federal government’s special-purpose funds. The municipal council unanimously instructs the administration to prepare for the construction of the two new fire stations using a modular wooden construction method, each with two parking spaces, plus changing rooms, restrooms, a lounge, and storage areas. Efforts should be made to put the construction of the fire stations out to bid jointly with other entities, if possible, in order to achieve corresponding economies of scale.
This was followed, without debate, by unanimous approval of the admission of additional shareholders to the KKR (AÖR). Mayor Jacob reported that, in addition to the current 76 founding municipalities, seven additional municipalities or governing bodies wish to join. This requires the approval of all 76 existing founding municipalities.
Finally, the municipal council unanimously resolved to authorize the mayor to award a contract for construction work to address the issues raised by the accident insurance fund at the Münchweiler Elementary School. This involves the replacement of handrails in the stairwell. The necessary funds, amounting to approximately €10,000.00 gross for structural engineering and metalwork, will be made available through an unbudgeted allocation.
This was followed by a closed-door session, during which a decision was made to temporarily set aside the matter.
