40th Mineral and Fossil Fair in Imsbach

On September 19 and 20, the former mining village of Imsbach am Donnersberg will once again be all about glittering minerals, beautiful gemstones, and fascinating fossils. Under the motto “INFORM – EXCHANGE – BUY,” the Donnersberg Mineral and Fossil Fair will take place in the community hall in Imsbach. This year’s highlight for mineral and fossil enthusiasts is once again being organized and hosted by the Pfälzisches Bergbaumuseum Imsbach e.V., the Förderverein Imsbach e.V., and the municipality of Imsbach.

Once again this year, visitors can look forward to numerous exhibits. These can be viewed and purchased on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the community hall in Imsbach. Here, you’ll find exhibitors featuring local minerals as well as booths with sparkling, colorful minerals from all over the world. Admission to the mineral fair is 3.00 euros for adults and 1.50 euros for children. Children under 1 meter in height may visit the fair free of charge.

In addition to the fair in the community hall, visitors will also be offered a varied leisure program. This year, for example, there will once again be guided tours of the Palatinate Mining Museum in Imsbach, just a few meters away from the fair. These will start at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The museum is open to visitors on Saturdays from 11 am to 6 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm.

Adventurous visitors also have the opportunity to explore Imsbach underground, as guided tours of the "Grube Maria" are also offered on both days. Adults pay 8.00 euros and children 5.00 euros for the guided tours. There will also be a family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children) for a special price of 20.00 euros. The first tour starts at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A new tour will then start every hour on the hour until 4 pm.

To transport visitors from the fair to the mine in the mining district, the ever-popular mine express will once again be shuttling back and forth between the two locations this year. The first departure will be from the hall in Imsbach at 10.30 am. From then on, the express will pick up visitors every hour and chauffeur them to the mine tours. The last departure from the hall is scheduled for 3.30 pm.

Dogs are not allowed at the mineral and fossil fair held inside the community hall in Imsbach.
